Calls for entry allow us to meet photographers that we may not known. We are always amazed at the amount of talent there is in the photographic world and feel honored that photographers take the time and expense to entire our calls, and to share their work. Karen Hymer was one of the recipients of the […]
Got my vendor status approved. Just a small update. This took about a week or so…too long.
As some of you know, I work in the book industry. I am surrounded by the latest books on the market, often proofs before they are published. Back around January/February time, I got my hands on a w…

This is an awesome piece I seriously recommend you not only read it but reblog because I really want to break down the snot nosed snobbishness towards one of my genres because it is truly undeserved.
By Varaidzo Jackie Brown sits in a white robe, cherry red nails curled around a coffee mug, as she laments getting older with bondsman Max Cherry. “I bet that, except for possibly an Afro, you look exactly the way you did at 29,” says Max. The line is funny, because we know it’s true. […]
Understanding the importance of black hair, black beauty, and the black body being presented not only as normative, but powerful ,as well as, beautiful. In a world where I have to fear my afro being “militant” or “unprofessional” celebrating beauty in every form is more important than ever.
Dreaming through the circuit.
Full of rage.
Cogniscent and untamed
Grabbed then by unyielding lust,
And pinned beneath the full moon,
By old egos and,
Broken shadows that,
Cannot breathe, but remain alive enough to gasp.
Short circuiting electricity through bruised sockets,
And wounded knees,
And itchy eye lashes,
Over eyes that stare at the screen and,
Don’t care if you’re mean or green,
Dreaming through the circuit.
As a circus of baby pictures, and baby’s baby pictures,
Play across my technological miracle faster than I can see.

And another scrolls past sensibly because,
Another death will bring them to their knees,
And another death because they do what they please,
And here they all hopeless romantics dream.

A Poem from my soon to be published collection.
Lost in lust,
Giving to him unwavering trust,
The heart races,
The mind runs,
And all sensation is wonder,
His lips on mine,
Hands flowing down his back,
Legs about his waist,
Burns into desire,
Desire cascades into pleasure.
